But, as of now, the game is still not backwards compatible with the original game, and KotOR 1 is not backwards compatible with KotOR 2 as we all know. So I think we can safely say that Kotto was not developed as a re-release to add some extra content.
You can be surprised that Koto came out as a new game because you may not know that KotOR 1 was backwards compatible to KotOR 2. Not everyone has it and it is listed as standard edition in the PS Store. Not much you can do about that.
